About Pontezuela
Pontezuela is a community in Santiago struggling with issues of poverty including lack of good food and medical care, educational needs, and most importantly spiritual needs. The area is home to both Dominicans and Haitians. For the Haitians in this community, accessing public services can be difficult and expensive. They face potential deportation, and are at risk of being exploited because of their poverty.
Our church exists here to fulfill the commands of Christ in Matthew 25:35-36:
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
Our Primary Campus
Established in 2013, ICM's primary campus is located in the community of Pontezuela in Santiago. We purchased land and built Jubilee Community Center, which houses the ministries of the church and the Jubilee Foundation.
Multicultural Community Church
We meet for community worship, prayer, and Bible study every Sunday at 10am. Our services are in both Spanish and English.
We also have a Creole service at 5pm on Sundays.
You will find a loving and supportive community of believers to welcome you.
We offer ministries for the entire family, including children, youth, men, and women. We welcome you to come as you are and experience a community growing together in the love of Jesus.
Jubilee Christian School
Our Pontezuela campus also offers a Christian school serving the educational needs of our community and training children to be lifelong disciples of Christ. We currently offer preschool classes, kindergarten, and an alternative school. We plan to add grades each year.
Nutrition Program
We provide hot meals to children and families five days each week. For many families, this is the only quality food they receive. On a typical day we feed about 70 people in our community.
Health Clinic
Our medical clinic opened in 2023 to address the healthcare needs of our community. Our medical team staffs the clinic four mornings each week and sees many patients, especially young children. This new ministry has been a blessing to the whole community.
Educational Development
We also offer afternoon classes including English lessons and computer classes for children and young adults. These provide important skills that allow them to attain better jobs and break the cycle of poverty.
